About my Civic Si

Civic washed and waxed
Freshly washed and waxed during the summer

Before buying this Civic, I was driving a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I bought it cheap, spent the summer fixing it with my dad, and learned how to drive manual shift in it. Needless to say, I loved the car, but it's shortcomings were hard to overlook and I knew I needed something else. The car was unreliable, slow as dirt, constantly breaking door handles, and full of exhaust leaks. But it's still my first car and for that it'll always have a soft spot to me.

Once I knew the Eclipse was going, I had to pick something to buy. My list became pretty narrow fairly quickly. It needed to be a coupe or sedan with a manual transmission, so that already cuts out about 90% of all possible choices. It needed to be reliable, with easy maintenance and readily available parts... So no European cars or anything before the late 90s. It also couldn't be rear wheel drive due to New England winters, so no Miata, 240sx, 350z, or any other fun drifting machines.

At that point I knew my choices were narrowed down to a Subaru WRX, Hyundai Veloster, or Honda Civic. The Civic had the right price, great gas milage, Honda reliability and parts support. I found a really clean 2008 Civic Si from an awful Subaru dealership in CT, and dealt with all the headaches from them to get the car in my driveway. I couldn't pass up a stock car that had spent most of its life in Georgia, with low(ish) miles, and absolutely no rust whatsoever. Once it was home, registered, and all that other fun stuff, it was time to figure out what to do with it going forward.
